Virginia Wilde lives in Edinburgh with her two children, Esme and Albie.
Virginia is a photojournalist with a life-long passion for wildlife and the natural world. She spent years working in conflict zones such as Afghanistan and Libya – but has returned to her love of nature and is now based in Scotland.
Virginia has taught photography to hundreds of students – at all levels – and has won awards for her equine images.
Each year she spends large amounts of time each summer photographing the seabirds and wildlife around the Scottish coast. She loves mountain-biking and swimming with her dog. During her time at home in the Covid pandemic she spent time hand building an 18ft boat for her son. Right now it’s in her living room and she will have to take the windows out to be able to get it out of the room! She is now weaving the seats and should finally finish soon!
A qualified marine mammal medic, who has contributed to wildlife research and articles into grey seal populations, she also leads winter eco-tours to the Scottish Highlands.
Virginia has travelled and worked extensively in more than 50 countries – and has lived in Japan, Italy and the United States of America. She has an early background in Anthropology and Biology and her photojournalist features span wildlife articles from the Masai Mara to the Scottish Islands.
A warm, knowledgeable, and good-humoured guide, she loves encouraging and supporting others to get the best out of their photography.

![Ambush! We have been watching a herd of grazing Guanacos (wild relatives of the Llama) in Chile's magnificent Torres del Paine. They gradually approach the area where we think a Puma is lying in wait in the 'mata barrosa' and 'calafate' bushes. She is! As a Guanaco nears her hiding place she bursts forth, scattering pieces of vegetation high into the air!
