From Supporter to Friends – Visiting Loyangalani Primary School in Lake Turkana
4th October 2026
At Wild Images, we have always cared deeply about education and the impact we have on the places we visit during our cultural tours.
As much as possible, we always hope to tread gently in the world of others when we design our itineraries through remote and sensitive cultures.
We are proud to partner with the wonderful Loyangalani Trust, a UK-based charity that supports the little primary school at Loyangalani, on the edge of Lake Turkana.
During our recent tour to remote Kenya, we were privileged to visit Loyangalani Primary School, where the principal, Jacob, told us about the challenges of running a school in such a remote place. At the start of the year, we decided to sponsor one of the students, Veronica, and on this visit we also met her lovely mother.
The Loiyangalani Trust was founded in late 2009 by a small group of people in West Hoathly, West Sussex. One of the group had visited Loiyangalani several times and wanted to help the local community through education. Loiyangalani is so far north of Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, that it receives very little regular support from larger charities. Their excellent, carefully considered sponsorship program supports occasional fundraising drives to help the school buy equipment, get supplies, and even provide meals for the kids each day.
We are committed to helping the school for the next three years.
If you are interested in supporting the school by donation or sponsorship, a link to the Loyangalani Trust Website is here: https://www.loiyangalanitrust.org.uk/index.php
